This is the last post in my series on my new set of 5 spring soaps available for a limited time at a great deal through my website, strawberryhedgehog.com
Last but certainly not least, my mint-bergamot soap! When I was growing up, even though we were in the desert, in this perfect shady spot close to the house there was a mint plant that completely overtook everything. We would go out and munch on the minty leaves. Now that I am older I still love to gnash on those minty fresh leaves but I also use them in teas, chutneys and all of my favorite bath and body products! Mint gives a refreshing, cooling quality to anything it touches. You may have noticed I offer peppermint as a scent for all of my body products from whipped body cremes to sugar scrubs to body oil and on. It is just a wonderful all around oil. A lot of times the straight scent of peppermint essential oil can be overwhelming so for a light and Springy touch I added a hint of bergamot essential oil. Most people are familiar with mint so I will go on to talk about bergamot.
Bergamot essential oil comes from the bergamot orange, an oddly pear shaped citrus fruit grown primarily in Italy. If you have ever sipped Earl Grey tea you are familiar with bergamot. The strongly scented oil is extracted from the peel of the fruit and used to scent the black tea leaves for Earl Grey. The oil is also an important component in perfumes and in aromatherapy for its cheering abilities. The essential oil of bergamot is said to instill confidence and is used in fighting depression and to uplift the mind and spirit.
While bergamot is grown in other areas around the globe it is said that the quality and quantity of fruit found in the Italian trees far exceeds the others. Bergamot-orange is not to be confused with the bergamot-mint (like the one that has reseeded itself in our yard!) Bergamot-mint has a more green and herbaceous scent, it is also known as Oswego Tea or Bee Balm but that is another entry. :c) Bergamot pairs beautifully with fresh, cool mint in this eye-opening soap made with organic palm and coconut oils. I hope you will enjoy reading all of my entries on my Spring Soap Set. It was fun writing them and even more fun making the soap and now using them! Please let me know if you have any questions.

I have to say Tracy you have really outdone yourself with your soaps! I love the lavender lime for a refreshing pick me up, but the patchouli-orange is surprisingly my favorite of the two. Its aroma in a hot steamy shower washes over you and can really peek your emotions! I love it!
